One scene in GTA Trilogy remaster trailer actually looks worse than the original game
One scene in GTA Trilogy remaster trailer actually looks worse than the original game
Look, the GTA Trilogy remaster laggard looks great. Information technology appears Rockstar has in truth stolen its refresh of GTA 3, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas seriously, with cleared detail, lighting, colors, weather and additional items and decorations added to scenes end-to-end the games.
The deep down of CJ's house now looks more like a home where people consume, sleep and put their own personal stamp on, while the Miami-like beachfront street in Vice City looks even more vibrant and 80s - we also love the art style choice from Rockstar and its mate studio apartment Grove Street Games, as it's avoided hyper-realism and kept some of the cartoony flair of the original games.
IT seems like it wish exist a great way to pass the time while we hold off for GTA 6, so it's all sounding certain and then, right? WRONG. In that location is one particular scene which actually looks worse in the quartet seconds or so information technology appears on screen.
Sin City
The scenery in enquiry appears 24 seconds into the bran-new GTA Trilogy trailer and shows a street lined with neon-clad casinos not all that different to real-world Las Vegas.
IT's from GTA San Andreas and the Las Venturas area of its sprawling mapping, giving USA a view down a street. As the drone transitions from the original game to the remaster, a car drives towards you.
What jumps out though, unlike whatsoever of the strange transitions in the trailer, is the original actually looks better than the remaster initially glance.
It's also the lone brightly-cinnamon-coloured night vista that features in the drone, with another clip showing a atomic number 10-clad, Ocean Driving, Miami-like street in Vice Urban center captured during daylight hours in the game.
This leaves me curious how scenes like this will look when the game prison term reaches nighttime - are we going to see look-alike hazy visuals and slightly clunky light?
This is personal to the eyeball of the observer and if you look at the reflections of the casino lights on the car's paintwork as it zips past the photographic camera you can tell the remaster does handle certain elements better than the original.
This is also just a momentaneous pok uploaded to Twitter - the secret plan is yet to reach the hands of anyone to experience connected their big TVs or shrill-resolving PC monitors.
There's a way to go and then, but this is a rummy quirk in a trailer that otherwise hits whol the right wing First Baron Marks of Broughton. Something just feels a spot off.

Analysis: why does IT look worse?
Gerald Lynch, Executive director Editor at TechRadar, offers some insight:
Whereas the majority of the trailer looks like a superb upgrade, Eastern Samoa I'd said in my earlier piece, I agree that the casino strip scene looks unmatched.
Here's the one moment where melding the old style with the newer technologies available is really prejudicial, in my opinion.
The original game had to hide its graphical limitations, especially in terms of inflammation. Just as we every last know, the flashy lights of a Las Vegas-same picture in the real global is what makes such a location indeed glamorous and enticing.
In the originative, the developers bring fort around this with influence – here are riffs on picture Vegas neon signs, drawn in overstated fashion to draw the eye.
But when the new games' enhanced lighting personal effects are added to the mix, their admittedly-much-realistic incandescence actually acts to subver the overall scene.
The quality of the underlying designs is washed out past the doughnut of lighting personal effects being added. You lose some of the illustrative contrast of the sign featuring a lady, as the neon-elements dampen its in the beginning-bold, pop-artwork-like silhouette.
For the well-nig part, I recollect what we've seen of the remastered trilogy's visuals does a fantastic line of work of walking the line between original artistic intent and the positive possibilities of applying newer visual technologies to a conniption.
But this shot proves that just throwing new technical school at a classic title ISN't always a silver hummer for enhancing something, and that even the most exciting of new technologies, be that electron beam traced reflections or high resolution textures, have to be applied with a careful eye towards environmental dressing and location design, too.
